At the June ISDS Board of Directors meeting, the Directors approved a proposal to provide a mechanism for new and renewing members from low-income and lower-middle-income countries, as defined by the World Bank, to apply for a 1-year ISDS membership at no cost. This membership option will be available until December 31, 2013. It will then be evaluated to determine if it has resulted in increased engagement with professionals working in the field of biosurveillance from low-income and lower-middle-income countries, and if it will be continued in 2014.
